Ethiopia’s varied topographical features have made it a natural haven for many rare and unique species. More than 900 species of bird are identified in the country, 15 of which are found nowhere else and 13 more shared only with Eritrea. There are also over a hundred separate mammal species, of which 31 are endemic.Much of Ethiopia’s natural beauty can be experienced in the country’s national parks and sanctuaries. There are 15 national parks, 8 reserves, four sanctuaries, two community conservation areas, 18 controlled hunting areas, and five open hunting areas in the country, and each one is unique and special in its own way.
