Established in 2007, elevation ranges from 550m above sea level on the edge of the Tekaze River to 1,800m above sea level on the highlands of Kafta. It has a semiarid climate. The park is known to support an elephant population, as well as many mammal and bird species. It is still under development.

Location: 1,015km north of Addis Abeba in western Tigray Regional State.
Size: 5,000sqkm

When to Go: Visit the southern section of the park from June to October.
Things to See and Do: See elephants, greater kudus, roan antelopes, and demoiselle cranes.
